Pair of Future Mountaineers Showed Off Speed in West Virginia State Track Meet

A pair of WVU commits showed off the speed they are bringing to WVU. Incoming Mountaineers and West Virginia natives Keyshawn Robinson and Dom Collins ran past the competition in the WVSSAC State Championship Track Meet on Saturday.

Robinson, a three-star wide receiver prospect out of Jefferson High School, won first place in both the 200 (22.11) and 400 (49.23) meter dash.

Despite his big day, Robinson did not win every race he competed in. In fact, he finished third behind his future WVU teammate in the 100 meter dash.

Collins, representing Princeton High School, captured first place in the 100 meter with a time of 10.93. Robinson was the defining champion of the 100 heading into this year’s event.

Robinson committed to the Mountaineers in April of 2023, deciding to stay in the state over offers from Old Dominion and Temple. He also visited Rutgers before committing to WVU.

As for Collins, he signed with West Virginia in December. Collins jumped at the chance to become a Mountaineer just a few days after receiving an offer.

Listed at 5-foot-10, Collins fits the bill of a potential diamond in the rough type talent. Collins caught 84 passes for 1,904 yards and 27 touchdowns while leading his team to the West Virginia AAA Final. He also added five more scores as a runner.

Collins was named the 2023 West Virginia High School Player of the Year.

WVSN was able to briefly speak with Collins about being offered, taking visit and signing with WVU in a matter of just a few days.
