'Technically better' – Emma Raducanu claims that women’s tennis is far more interesting than men’s
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The debate over whether men’s or women’s tennis is better has been ongoing. Emma Raducanu recently weighed in, expressing her belief that women’s tennis is superior.

In a recent interview with the Times, Raducanu made this bold comment, taking the stand for all the women in the sport. WTA No.2 Aryna Sabalenka had kick-started this conversation by stating that she doesn’t watch women’s tennis and that men’s tennis is more interesting to watch.

The Belarusian received a lot of backlash for it, even from her rival Iga Swiatek, who beat her recently at the Italian Open finals. Raducanu sided with the Polish pro. She even went to the extent of saying that women are technically better than men. While siding with women, she also took a dig at the organizations for their unequal treatment.

A lot of women’s players are technically better--They rely on speed, agility and brain rather than brute strength. The prize money gap is huge on the ATP Tour, which I don’t necessarily think is fair, but equally playing three sets in the slams is a lot better than the men’s five, which is brutal. said Emma Raducanu via the Times

While many major tournaments now offer equal prize money for men and women, some smaller events still do not. However, as more women advocate for this cause, equal pay is expected to become more widespread.

Emma Raducanu opens about being forced into tennis by her “pushy” parents

British pro Emma Raducanu recently revealed that her parents forced her into tennis. In a recent interview with the Times, the Brit revealed the hardships she had to go through to become the person she is now.

From not being able to have boyfriends to hanging out with girlfriends, Raducanu had to work “very hard to please” her parents. It was all worth it, as their parenting helped the Brit build more resilience and confidence in her game, which was seen in her 2021 season form.

They are so pushy. When I was younger more so. Now they are at a place where they tell me what they think is best, but they realize ultimately that the more they push the more I am going to resist. Emma Raducanu said

Currently, she is on the waiting list for the French Open wildcard entry. While Raducanu is most likely to not get that, she will hope that the three women ahead of her withdraw. If not, then Raducanu has to play the qualifiers and try to pull a 2021 US Open.
